The Vitràge company was founded by the art glass artist Paola Caterina Grua.
Paola Caterina Grua’s artistic training began in the prestigious Istituto d'Arte in Castellamonte and the Accademia Albertina School of Fine Art in Turin. But it was the generous opportunity offered her by the glass art master Pietro Morino Baquetto that really provided her with the essential technical experience to specialise and qualify to become a master in decorative glass arts in her own right.
In 1994, Vitràge opened its doors in the Borgo Po district in Turin. It was a fascinating workshop full of excellent examples of Art Nouveau glass windows that tested to the full her knowledge of art glass production.
The first orders soon started coming in and the workshop began its specialised art glass production that would continue for many years. In 2005, after participating in a number of specialised design and craft fairs as well as carrying out many exceptional commissions and restoration projects the Piemonte Region awarded Vitràge a Certification of Excellence in Glass Art.
In 2012, Vitràge found itself with a growing number of increasingly large and complex projects, so it moved its atelier to the premises of L'Officina dei Giardini. Working alongside the larger company, that designs and produces high quality winter gardens and conservatories, has over the years given rise to diverse synergies.
Joining forces has produced some highly decorative iron and glass interior design work as well as the unique conservatories created by L’Officina dei Giardini, now decorated with wonderful painted stained glass and sandblasted frieze tile designs conceived by the art glass master Paola Caterina Grua.
